Dr. Aristotelis Tsiakalos – Pathologist – Infectious Disease Specialist
Specialized in Pathology at the University Clinic of Pathological Physiology at “Laiko” Hospital and holds a Doctorate from the School of Medicine, University of Athens.
Dr. Aristotelis Tsiakalos completed his doctoral thesis with distinction in HIV Immunology at the School of Medicine, University of Athens. His research contributed to the description of a new mechanism involved in the pathophysiology of anemia in HIV-1 seropositive patients and was honored by the Hellenic Society of Infectious Diseases.
He worked for two years in the Infectious Diseases (HIV/GUM Medicine) department at St Thomas’ Hospital, King’s College in London. In 2012, he specialized in Infectious Diseases and worked for 6 years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Research of the Academy of Athens (IIBEAA), focusing on the study of regulatory T cells.
For his studies in the field of infectious disease immunology, he was awarded the “G.K. Daikos” Prize by the Hellenic Society of Infectious Diseases in 2012.
Dr. Tsiakalos actively participates in scientific conferences, presenting research papers and delivering speeches both nationally and internationally. He has published more than 27 articles in international and Greek medical journals and serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals.
He is the Chairman of the Infectious Diseases Committee at the Maternity & Gynecological Clinic ‘Leto’ and has served as Director of the COVID-19 Clinic at Leto. He specializes in obstetric and gynecological infections, with a particular interest and scientific engagement in the treatment of chronic and recurrent infections.
Since 2019, he has been the Country Manager of ISIDOG (International Society for Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynaecology), a founding member of ERCE (European Registry of Cystic Echinococcosis), an elected member of the Board of Directors of HESID (Hellenic Society for Infectious Diseases Control), and elected President of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Society of Obstetric and Gynecological Infections.
